Taiwan Railways adds special discount trains during Spring Festival; new Tze-Chiang Limited Express begins service on 2/6

To accommodate passenger flow during the 102nd Lunar New Year holiday, Taiwan Railways will operate 604 additional train services across all service levels and attach 1,403 extra carriages over a 12-day period from Thursday, February 7, 102, to Monday, February 18. Online, telephone, and convenience store ticketing for named-seat trains on the Eastern Line (including the Yilan Line, South-Link Line, and inter-line services) and the Western Line will open at midnight on Tuesday, January 22, and Wednesday, January 23.

The new Tze-Chiang Limited Express will enter service just before the Spring Festival and will feature four-person table seating for the first time, offering travelers a fresh experience. Taiwan Railways' new Tze-Chiang Limited Express will officially begin operations on February 6, with the first service, Train No. 5208, departing Shulin for Hualien (departing Taipei Station at 9:40 AM). During the Spring Festival travel period, 56 additional services will be operated, providing up to 2,000 seats daily. The railway also plans to introduce four-person table seating on the new Tze-Chiang Limited Express for the first time, offering a unique travel experience. To manage passenger traffic on the North-Link Line during the Spring Festival—both for returning home and returning to work—Taiwan Railways will add one overnight Tze-Chiang Limited Express service from Shulin to Hualien on both February 7 and 8, and one overnight service from Hualien to Shulin on both February 15 and 16, with a 30% discount on fares. The original Train Nos. 684 and 685, Fuxing-class services between Shulin and Taitung, will continue to offer discounted fares during the holiday (NT$200 for Taipei–Hualien, NT$350 for Taipei–Taitung). Additionally, from February 9 to 17, two additional round-trip Hualien–Shulin local express services (four services total) will be added daily, also at discounted fares (NT$200 for Taipei–Hualien, NT$100 for Taipei–Yilan).
