Ring in the New Year with Shopping Frenzy – New Taipei City’s Spring Festival Goods Market Offers 50% Off Souvenirs

To serve the public preparing for pre-New Year shopping and to capitalize on the huge spring festival goods market, the 2013 New Taipei Colorful Spring Festival Goods Market will open for eight consecutive days starting February 1 at the Civic Plaza of the New Taipei City Government. This year’s market features a collection of spring festival goods, souvenirs, agricultural and fishery products, flowers, food, and culturally unique merchandise. On the opening day, February 1, there will be a 50% off feedback sale on souvenirs, where 100 boxes of souvenirs will all be sold at half price to the public. A premium Buddha Jumps Over the Wall dish originally priced at NT$1,280 can be purchased for just NT$640.

In addition, the agricultural, fishery, and flower section offers fresh fruits and vegetables, organic produce, and specially selected items from various agricultural and fishery associations in New Taipei City, giving the public more affordable and reliable choices. The specially planned cultural specialty goods section invites vendors from Hakka, Indigenous, and Korean cultures, enriching the variety of goods and allowing the public to purchase festival items with diverse cultural characteristics.

 

During the event, three special “good luck” activities — Good Cheer, Good Fortune, and Good Wealth — are planned to boost shopping enthusiasm. For the Good Cheer activity, shoppers who spend over NT$500 can exchange for a New Year good-luck gift, including a “Year of Abundance” shopping bag plus a “Fortune Vegetable Root,” limited to 1,000 per day, with a total of 8,000 vegetable roots to be given away during the 8-day event. Also, those spending over NT$500 can exchange for a raffle ticket to join the Good Fortune lottery, with daily prizes including the HTC Butterfly smartphone and New Year good-luck gift bags among 50 awards. Meanwhile, the Good Wealth activity will distribute 1,000 Zhonghe Laoluodi Lucky Money notes on February 2.

The 2013 New Taipei Colorful Spring Festival Goods Market runs from February 1 to February 8, daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, closing at 6:00 PM on February 8. On-site delivery discount options are also available.
