Easing Spring Festival Crowds: Taitung Offers Shuttle Buses, Carpooling, and Free Parking

In response to the anticipated influx of tourists during the nine-day Spring Festival holiday, Taitung County Government has formulated relevant transportation and tourism service measures. For visitors coming to Taitung for vacation, the government has also introduced eight “lucky” (benefit) policies, namely: “No closure during Spring Festival, more diverse services,” “Shuttle buses to take you around Taitung, smooth travel throughout the holiday,” “Transparent information, travel with a plan,” “Taxi carpooling, save your wallet,” “Extra Spring Festival benefits: no worries about downtown parking,” “Stay at licensed accommodations during Spring Festival for a fun family trip,” “Stamp your souvenir card for fun memories and benefits,” and “Your tourism spending is protected, no need to worry when seeking help,” among others.

Among these eight “He” (benefit) measures, in addition to extending the service hours of tourist service centers (February 9–17, 08:00–18:00) and increasing the availability of inquiries for vacant hotel rooms, they also include specific initiatives such as Spring Festival tourist shuttle buses, provision of traffic and road control information, taxi carpooling, temporary free parking areas, information on licensed accommodation providers, lucky souvenir cards, and consumer protection. Taitung County Magistrate Huang Jianting stated that this Spring Festival, Taitung County will host events such as the “New Year’s Gifts and Kids’ Fun – 2013 New Year Celebration” at Nanjing Road Square in Taitung City, and flower sea appreciation activities organized by four farmers' associations, all of which are perfect for family outings and experiences. These include transparent information, disclosure of local transportation details, packaged tour planning, and clear regulations for local accommodation providers.
