Sodagreen, Cheer Chen, and hip-hop EDM take center stage at the Kenting Spring Scream

Taiwan’s biggest outdoor music event of spring, the “2013 Kenting Spring Scream Music Festival,” will return this year during the Qingming Festival holiday from April 5 to April 6, featuring two consecutive days of four concerts at Hengchun Airport. This year’s lineup includes singer-songwriter goddess Cheer Chen, iconic diva Hebe Tien, fresh-voiced songstress Olivia, and soulful vocalist Joanna Wang among others. The “rock legends” category is headlined by rock talent Zhang Zhenyue and psychedelic prince Yoga Lin. The “folk supergroup” segment features hugely popular Sodagreen and the independently spirited Chairman Band. Pre-sale tickets go on sale today (February 6) at noon, and this year a special limited-edition EDM early bird package is also available, offering up to 40% off!

Additionally, this year’s Spring Scream incorporates a “hip-hop element,” featuring hip-hop icon MC HotDog. The organizers have gone all out for the Kenting EDM party, inviting renowned international electronic music artists such as Germany’s trance god ATB, Dutch chart-topping pioneer RANK 1, and superstar DJ duo Super8 & Tab. With five major music genres represented, this year’s lineup at the Spring Scream Music Festival is the most diverse yet.

 

The “Spring Scream Awards,” designed for independent music creators, is open to anyone passionate about music and eager to share. Winners will receive cash prizes, one night’s accommodation in Kenting, and the opportunity to perform on the main Spring Scream stage. The “Spring Scream Beautiful Girls Contest,” returning once again, lets the online and onsite audience vote for the most stunning “Spring Scream beauty.” The top 100 contestants will receive free shuttle bus rides to Kenting provided by the organizers, as well as tickets to the Hengchun EDM party, while the top 10 will also get free accommodation and an autographed CD from EDM god ATB. Registration for both contests is now open. In addition to these competitions, this year’s event will continue its beach cleanup initiative and T-shirt giveaway campaign, encouraging everyone to love the Earth and love Kenting!

As always, the event site features many unique art installations. Not only will there be a tropical-style thatched hut set up by a beer company, but an operator has also brought the “ABSOLUT Ice Bar” — previously showcased in Stockholm, Sweden and London, UK — to the Spring Scream Music Festival. Built entirely from large ice blocks, the exclusive bar will instantly transport you into a -10°C snowy wonderland.
