Solar-powered "water nurturing and electricity generation" creates wetland; family registration open for Lantern Festival event

After Typhoon Morakot, Pingtung County Government actively promoted the "water nurturing and electricity generation" project in the coastal areas of Linbian. The once-devastated acres of farmland now not only host rows of solar panels facing the sun, but the county government has also partnered with local communities to create a wetland ecological park beneath the solar panels. The first step is to call on 50 families to plant hope saplings and release hope fish fry in the park on Lantern Festival, February 24. Families will not only create beautiful memories but also bear witness together to the rebirth of this land. At the event, 11 types of floating walkways created by children and the community will also be on display.

This event will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Lantern Festival, February 24, at Linbian’s new landscape spot — Xiannshuibei. Xiannshuibei is an artificial wetland under development, located behind Linbian Railway Station in the solar photovoltaic industrial zone. To allow more people to learn about and participate in the follow-up plans for the photovoltaic transformation of coastal land subsidence areas, the organizers have designed the “Plant a Tree of Hope” and “Release Happy Fish” activities and prepared adoption signs for participating families. Visitors can take photos with the saplings they plant, and there will be explanations on water purification and aquatic ecological food chains. Advance registration is required for both activities.

To enhance the land efficiency beneath the solar panels, the Linbian Nature and Cultural History Conservation Association has invited fishermen to set up oyster racks, allowing visitors to string oysters themselves and experience the rich fishing village atmosphere. In addition to educational science exhibits and fishing village charm, the event will also feature fun lantern riddles, delicious Lantern Festival treats, and a quality agricultural and fishery product showcase.
