The Guam Marathon kicks off on April 7 with total prize money of up to NT$600,000

Runners who love traveling abroad to participate in road races are in luck—the “Guam International Marathon” will be held in grand style on Guam on April 7. This sporting event, jointly sponsored by the Guam Visitors Bureau, United Airlines, and the Guam Pacific Resort, is expected to attract over a thousand running enthusiasts from Guam as well as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and

The Guam International Marathon features a full marathon (approximately 42 km), a half marathon (approximately 21 km), a 10 km run, and a 5 km run. The race starts at Gov. Joseph Flores Memorial Park, follows the scenic Marine Corps Drive, and loops back at the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center in Sumay. The event offers total prize money and rewards exceeding USD 20,000 (approximately NT$600,000), including round-trip flights for two to Manila, Hong Kong, Palau, Cairns, or Honolulu. All finishers will receive a finisher’s medal, and the top three winners will be awarded additional prizes.

 

Registration for the 2013 Guam International Marathon is now open. Participants can register online or download the registration form and sign up in person at Pacific Islands Club in Tumon Bay or Hornet Sports in Tamuning. The registration deadline is April 3.
