Eastern & Oriental Express Snake Year Journey Explores Exotic Southeast Asia

The Eastern & Oriental Express (Eastern & Oriental Express) winds through Southeast Asia like a giant python, and this year it has launched a Snake Year journey where guests can board Asia’s most prestigious and unique luxury train to relive the opulence of bygone eras. In addition to the classic two- to three-night “Classic Journey” between Bangkok and Singapore, the Eastern & Oriental Express will also offer a longer “Discover Southeast Asia” itinerary, taking guests through Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Laos. During the trip, guests will enjoy the scenery of captivating nations, engage with local cultures, explore new frontiers, and experience in-depth travel.

Each “Discover Southeast Asia” journey accommodates no more than 60 guests, each staying in spacious luxury cabins or presidential suite carriages. All itineraries allow guests to explore exotic destinations in the most luxurious and stylish way, featuring a variety of exciting excursions and nighttime experiences off the train, along with guest lectures on board.

 

Among them, the six-night “Fables of the Hills” journey departs from Singapore on October 27. The train will head north through Malaysia and Thailand before arriving in Bangkok. Highlights include an overnight stay in the lush Cameron Highlands, a leisurely boat ride along the River Kwai, and a visit to the historic island of Penang.

The journey continues on October 2 with “Tales of Laos,” as the train embarks on another grand cross-border discovery. This three-night itinerary will take guests through the vast farmlands of northeastern Thailand and across the Friendship Bridge over the Mekong River. The train then travels to Laos’ first railway line, entering the capital, Vientiane.

 

As for the thrilling “Epic Thailand” journey, it departs on November 24, leading guests to lesser-known areas to experience the most captivating side of Thailand. This journey covers large swaths of Thailand’s beautiful countryside, passing through remote villages in the Isaan plains and offering views of 12th-century Khmer temple complexes.
