New Year Flower Viewing Trips: 5 Hidden Paradises for Blossom Appreciation in Northern Taiwan

During the Spring Festival, flower viewing trips should naturally take you to places brimming with the essence of spring to match the festive vibe. Although there are no large-scale flower seas in Northern Taiwan at the moment, there are plenty of flower fields and groves perfect for slowing down and enjoying. ETtoday Travel Cloud has rounded up five uniquely charming blossom spots—go breathe in the romantic air during the flowering season.

1. Yangmingshan – Camellias

This year’s cherry blossom season kicks off on February 10th. Before heading to the cherry blossoms, why not admire the gorgeous camellia blooms? These noble and vivid red camellias are currently in full bloom, and some fallen petals have even carpeted the ground in red, exuding an elegant and regal charm reminiscent of a royal garden. Additionally, a camellia exhibition will be held from February 8th to 19th, showcasing a vast display of blooming camellias that are definitely worth seeing.

2. Taipei Dadaocheng

▲ At the Dunhuang Wharf in Dadaocheng, tens of thousands of potted flowers are in full bloom. Last year, flower seas were planted near Dunhuang Wharf, but this year the number has increased. With 72,000 potted plants, a floral tapestry pattern has been created, featuring “pink salvia,” yellow “lantana,” and red and pink “begonias,” all spectacular and eye-catching. The Taipei Water Department says the flower viewing period runs from now until after the Spring Festival (late February). Everyone is welcome to come enjoy a springtime stroll along the river during the holiday.

3. Taoyuan Fairy Valley – Tulips

Located in the mountainous area of Fuxing, Taoyuan, Taoyuan Fairy Valley is famed for its vast tulip fields. The tulip season from January to March each year attracts many visitors who make the trip up the mountain to witness this European-style sea of blossoms. Covering a total area of 214 hectares, Taoyuan Fairy Valley boasts one of the largest tulip plantings in Taiwan. When in full bloom, the vibrant and colorful flower sea never fails to amaze.

4. Xiangyang Farm – Lavender & Snapdragon

Known for its expansive sunflower fields, Xiangyang Farm also features romantic purple lavenders and colorful snapdragons starting in January. As temperatures gradually drop, the lavenders and snapdragons grow thicker and stronger, enhancing the flower sea effect. Consider visiting this spot during the Spring Festival holidays.
