The Guam Micronesia Island Fair kicks off in early summer on May 17

The "Guam Micronesia Island Fair," organized by the Guam Visitors Bureau, will take place from May 17 to 19, inviting travelers from various countries to experience the vibrant island culture and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Guam Visitors Bureau. This most iconic cultural event in Guam is entering its 26th edition. The timing of this year’s event, specially chosen for May, allows visitors to enjoy the refreshing early summer weather while immersing themselves in the culture and arts of Guam and the Micronesian islands. The fair will be held at Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park (also known as Ipan Beach Park) in Tumon Bay, Guam. Admission is free, and there will be plenty of delicious food, fun activities, and great giveaways on site.

Over the past 26 years, this flagship celebration has invited multiple island nations from Micronesia to participate each year, allowing visitors to learn about the unique cultures of each region through traditional dances and music. This year, marking the 50th anniversary of the Guam Visitors Bureau, the scale of the event will be significantly expanded. Participants will include the Federated States of Micronesia, Rota Island, Saipan, Tinian, as well as the Republic of Kiribati, Nauru, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Palau, all coming together in Guam to showcase the diverse beauty of Micronesia.

 

During the two-day festival, in addition to cultural performances such as singing, chanting, and dancing, visitors can also admire local Micronesian carvings, take part in competitive sports, and indulge in traditional local cuisine. Additionally, a variety of prizes and giveaways will be available, giving visitors a chance to experience the warmest side of Guam.
