The Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival exceeds 100,000 visitors; accommodation and package discounts continue to be offered

The team "Hua Gang Gang," which won the "Domestic Creative Sand Sculpture Competition" championship in 2011 and received an "Honorable Mention" last year, is challenging for the third consecutive year this year. However, this year they took a different approach by setting their theme as "Shadows of Midnight," using horror, darkness, and nightmarish elements to portray "childhood memories," offering the public a unique visual experience. In addition, the Taipei-based team "Old Wang’s Dream" shared that their family participated in a similar event back in 1995, when the mother, despite suffering from a serious illness, persevered through the entire process just to fulfill the dream of creating a sand sculpture with her family. It was only after the competition ended that the family rushed to the hospital— a memory that remains unforgettable to this day. This year, they re-entered the competition hoping to recreate the childhood home of yesteryear with their grandson, passing on the sand sculpture memories to the next generation. Other creative works include the "Art Never Ends" team from Xuanzang University’s Department of Art and Creative Design, last year’s third-place winners, who created the "Memory Wonder Jar" representing childhood, and the "Happy Family" team’s "Sweet Memories of Happiness." Particularly noteworthy is the creation by the "Ibis Ducks" team, which features the giant yellow inflatable duck that recently became an internet sensation in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour—allowing Taiwanese visitors to see it up close without leaving the country. Endless creativity is what builds Taiwan’s unique kingdom of sand sculptures.

The "2013 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival" runs until June 30, with "Family Sand Sculpture DIY" activities held every holiday.
