Mayday Rocks Kaohsiung: The 9/10 "Kaohsiung Night" Closes with a Concert

Mayday’s lead vocalist Ashin, the global ambassador for Kaohsiung, said, "The Asia-Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) in September will welcome hundreds of cities and thousands of dignitaries to Kaohsiung. In recent years, Kaohsiung has attracted many domestic and international tourists with its cultural creativity and tourism, becoming one of the popular short-trip destinations for Hong Kong people. This year, Kaohsiung will see exciting new developments spanning entertainment, music, food, cultural creativity, and international events. Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lee Yong-de pointed out that Kaohsiung is the largest city in Taiwan by area, featuring diverse landscapes from Taiwan’s highest mountain, Yushan, to the coastline and Love River. The city places great emphasis on environmental conservation, including wetlands, and boasts 18 wetland areas that have received international acclaim. Additionally, Kaohsiung enjoys about 300 days of sunshine per year, with an average annual temperature of 24°C and minimal day-night temperature variation, making it pleasant to visit in all seasons.

Each member of Mayday has endorsed one of the five major features of Kaohsiung’s tourism development: First, "Colorful Kaohsiung is Fun" — guitarist Stone praised Kaohsiung’s convenient transportation and highly recommended bike tours in the city; second, "Ocean Music is Great to Listen To" — band leader Monster is most excited about music-centered events such as the "Cijin Ocean Music Festival" and the "Super Rock Day" in Greater Kaohsiung; third, "Seasonal Produce is Delicious" — bassist Masa is particularly fond of the "Dagangshan Longan Honey Culture Festival" and the "Jiaxian Taro and Bamboo Shoot Festival"; fourth, "Cultural Creativity is Spectacular" — drummer Guanyou admires Kaohsiung’s creative arts and culture scene, recommending must-visits like the "Pier-2 Art Center" and the "Kaohsiung MRT Public Art"; fifth, "International Events are Eye-Catching" — lead vocalist Ashin introduced upcoming international events in Kaohsiung, including the notable "2013 Asia-Pacific Cities Summit" and the "2013 First World Sport Dance Championship."

 

To make it easier for Hong Kong travelers to explore Kaohsiung, the Kaohsiung City Government has partnered with the Hong Kong Office of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, collaborating with 12 travel agencies in Hong Kong and 12 hotels in Kaohsiung to launch a limited-time Kaohsiung travel package. Those who purchase the "Trendy Kaohsiung – Explore Taiwan" package before June 30 can enjoy up to two days of free accommodation in Kaohsiung.
