EVA Air officially joined the Star Alliance today, connecting with international airlines worldwide. To showcase an international perspective, the airline specially invited Takeshi Kaneshiro, in his role as a “global traveler,” to reinterpret the meaning of travel. The full 90-second commercial will premiere tonight at 20:58 on various news channels in Taiwan. This ad will also be edited into 30-second and 15-second versions for broadcast on major TV channels in over 80 countries around the world.

EVA Air officially joined the Star Alliance today. In addition to launching a newly designed membership card, the airline also invested in inviting Takeshi Kaneshiro to shoot a new version of the advertisement, which will air tonight at 20:58 on various news channels. (Image provided by EVA Air)

The new EVA Air advertisement is available in four language versions: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, and Japanese. The filming locations span Tokyo and Nara in Japan, Paris in France, and Taitung in Taiwan. The shooting schedule lasted as long as 37 days. This is not only the longest and most location-diverse ad shoot that Takeshi Kaneshiro has participated in, but he also personally recorded all the voiceovers.

EVA Air stated that this advertisement was directed by internationally renowned advertising director Peng Wen-chun. Under his direction, the serene tranquility of Nara in Japan, the romantic charm of Paris in France, and the rich vibrancy of Taitung in Taiwan were perfectly captured through the lens. Whether Takeshi Kaneshiro is drinking tea, strolling, or galloping freely across fields, his innate elegance and charisma are vividly displayed in every dynamic and tranquil moment. Beyond the beautiful scenery, elements of culture and art are another key focus of the film. The artistry of Paris, the tea ceremony of Japan, the tea-serving culture of Taiwan, and even the famous French classic film “The Red Balloon” are cleverly integrated, allowing the film to not only showcase local beauty but also convey a profound sense of humanistic beauty. At the end of the film, there is a quick montage of bright, smiling faces of travelers from around the world, including a photo of five final-year graduates on their graduation trip in Nara, whose school is soon to be closed due to the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Behind every real image lies a deeply meaningful and vibrant story.

All versions of the advertisement videos and behind-the-scenes featurettes will be available on the campaign’s official website www.evaiseeyou.com after 20:58 tonight. In addition, EVA Air has also launched a global online campaign called “I See You – Share What You See.” From now until July 15, netizens from around the world can upload photos taken during their travels to the photo wall on the campaign website, write about what they’ve seen, and share it on Facebook for a chance to win EVA Air’s “round-trip tickets to unrestricted destinations” as well as exquisite gifts such as a commemorative booklet and postcards from the Takeshi Kaneshiro advertisement behind-the-scenes footage.

In addition, to align with the services of Star Alliance airlines, the former EVA Air VIP Lounge will be renamed “Infinity MileageLands Unlimited Miles.” The in-flight amenities for Royal Laurel Class will also include Noritake bone china tableware and RIMOWA overnight bags. The newly designed Infinity MileageLands card features the Star Alliance logo, serving as an identification symbol when flying with Star Alliance airlines. Diamond and Gold card members are equivalent to Star Alliance Gold card members, while Silver card members are equivalent to Star Alliance Silver card members. When flying with Star Alliance flights, simply present your membership card to enjoy corresponding benefits, including exclusive check-in counters, priority seat selection, additional free checked baggage, and access to over 1,000 airport lounges worldwide.
