4 Railway %s Bus “Taiwan Pass” – Travel All Over Taiwan with One Ticket

This year’s “Taiwan Tourist” ticket package has unprecedentedly integrated five major public transport options across Taiwan, launching three types of travel ticket packages tailored to different traveler needs. These include the “Green Travel Pass,” which allows unlimited rides on 20 “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” routes, and the “Orange Travel Pass,” which is based on the Green Travel Pass and includes a 25% discount ticket in partnership with the High-Speed Rail for convenient access to major attractions. Alternatively, there's the “Blue Travel Pass,” designed specifically for foreign tourists and combined with the Taiwan Railways TR-PASS 3-Day Pass. All three passes allow free exchange for a one-day Taipei Metro ticket or a one-day Kaohsiung MRT pass, covering both city trips.

 

At the same time, the “Taiwan Pass” is offering multiple promotions for its initial release. The original 1,200 NTD “Green Travel Pass” is available for just 999 NTD for the first 500 sets, plus a complimentary exclusive “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Mascot” plush keychain. For the first 500 “Orange Travel Pass” sets, a “Taiwan Pass” electronic ticket card with 100 NTD stored value is included as a bonus. Additionally, the original 3,000 NTD “Blue Travel Pass” is limited to 200 sets, now available for just 2,500 NTD. Starting today, the general public can purchase the “Green Travel Pass” via the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” official website, linked to the EasyCard website and its retail locations. Foreign travelers can buy the “Blue Travel Pass” through the EasyCard website and three designated hotels in central, northern, and southern Taiwan. The “Orange Travel Pass” will also go on sale starting July 17 at 7-Eleven ibon service stations nationwide.

 

The Tourism Bureau noted that since the launch of the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” in April 2010, ridership has grown from 760,000 in the first year, to 1.16 million in the second year, and reached 1.8 million last year, with annual growth rates consistently exceeding 50%. To date, it has served over 4.5 million passengers, showing that more and more travelers are getting used to using the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” to explore Taiwan. In addition, the various route-specific “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” ticket packages have been widely praised. This year, over 70 travel packages have been repackaged (including 13 regional packages), such as the “High-Speed Rail Dongshan River Line Joint Ticket,” which combines high-speed rail tickets, national highway bus tickets, and a 2-Day Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Dongshan River Line Pass. The “Salt Town Coastal Line + Tainan 88 & 99 Three-Day Pass” includes the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Salt Town Coastal Line, Tainan 88 & 99 Lines, and admission to Tainan historic sites. Originally priced at 786 NTD, it is now available for just 290 NTD — a 37% discount — letting the public explore more for less.
