Stinky Tofu vs. Golden Thief: Night Market Food Showdown Goes Viral

According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, 74% of international visitors explore night markets during their stay in Taiwan. Moreover, for tourists, night market snacks are the most representative of Taiwan’s culinary culture. Organized by the Tourism Bureau, the “Taiwan Top 10 Night Market Food PK Challenge” invited the public to vote online for their favorite and most iconic night market snacks. After the first phase, 30 classic and 20 innovative dishes were selected, leading to the second round of voting held from July 1–31, featuring a total of 50 dishes in the showdown. Participants who voted during the campaign period also had the chance to win prizes such as smartphones and tablets.

The second phase of the “Taiwan Top 10 Night Market Food PK Challenge” online voting campaign will feature a battle between 20 innovative night market foods such as Golden Thief, Piggy Box, and Bursting Egg Rolls, and 30 classic night market dishes including oyster omelet, pig’s blood cake, and oyster vermicelli. The public is invited to vote online for their favorite night market treats. In addition, to encourage participation, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has prepared various giveaways. By casting a vote for their favorite night market dish during the campaign, participants can win big prizes such as smartphones, tablets, and dash cams.
