Kaohsiung Nights Come Alive: Drummers’ Troupe Launches Nightly Themed Performance

During the day, Kaohsiung basks in bright sunshine, but as evening falls, the temperature becomes pleasant and a gentle breeze blows—making it the perfect time to experience the city’s nighttime charm. The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has collaborated with the “Ten Drums Art Percussion Group,” a Grammy-nominated exponent of Taiwan’s drumming culture, to launch the themed performance “Drum Rhythms of Kaohsiung.” Set in the Kaohsiung Qiaotang Cultural and Creative Park, the show features captivating local night performances paired with drumming experiences, plus unique drum-barrel-flavored meals. Together with daytime sightseeing options, it creates a whole new way to enjoy Kaohsiung in the height of summer.

The century-old Qiaotou Sugar Refinery has been revitalized and transformed into a leisure resort and new tourist attraction. In addition to preserving the park’s historic narrow-gauge railway and open-air jungle, it also promotes drumming art. It is home to Taiwan’s first chimney water theater, which uses local “Songjiang Battle Array” elements combined with water curtains, watchtowers, 4D projections, and magical water stages for a stunning spectacle. Drummers energetically perform in the water, allowing audiences to enjoy world-class performances without traveling abroad—all right here in Kaohsiung.

 

For promotional deals, from July 12 to September 14, every Friday and Saturday, residents of Kaohsiung can enjoy half-price tickets by presenting their ID at the box office. The public can also pick up the free “Kaohsiung Fun GO” booklet—available at tourist service centers, high-speed rail stations, and more—which contains a variety of discount vouchers. Alternatively, purchase full-price tickets on the Kaohsiung MRT to receive discount coupons, or enjoy special offers such as NT$99 tickets for the Gao-Gao-Ping area’s “Hsin Hsin Tickets,” one-night-one-meal packages at Han Ping Hotel, and more. Visitors can also join recommended Kaohsiung tours like the “River & Harbor Happiness Day Trip” or the “All-Inclusive Two-Day Adventure,” both offering unique nighttime experiences, including drum performances and relaxing spiritual journeys.
