Have a picnic with Janet！The TLC Taipei Picnic Day 7/20 is kicking off a healthy lifestyle

TLC Travel & Living Channel has been broadcasting in Taiwan for 10 years this year, and this year it is hosting its first Asian urban green space picnic event — “TLC Taipei Picnic Day.” It invites everyone to head to Inner Lake’s Beautiful Dike Riverside Park on July 20 (Saturday), from 10:00 in the morning to 20:00 in the evening, to step outdoors. The event encourages the public to bring their own picnics. There will also be various experience booths on-site featuring music, lifestyle, art, food, and more, turning viewers' visions of a beautiful life into real experiences！Senior TLC Travel & Living Channel host Janet said: “I will also visit the various booths on the day to play with everyone, and our most beloved host Bob Blumer will also fly in specially from abroad to join in the fun!”

When TLC is mentioned, the most iconic host, Janet, comes to mind. She says that being a TLC host is a source of pride！“Crazy about Taiwan” was a turning point in her life, where she found her most comfortable stage. Over the years, she and TLC have grown together like family, taking viewers across Taiwan through the lens. Janet has extensive experience going up mountains and down to the sea, even having picnicked at the Paiyun Lodge at the summit of Yushan. But having a picnic in Taipei is a first for her. Being able to go outdoors with everyone and practice a healthy lifestyle holds special meaning for her.

 

Janet mentioned that picnicking is a part of life abroad, and the spirit of a picnic is sharing. She especially pointed out: “Do you know what BYO means? It stands for ‘Bring Your Own.’ In the past, I often exchanged home-cooked specialties with family and friends. We also encourage all friends to BYO on the day！Only then can you truly experience the joy of a picnic.” Though not skilled in cooking herself, she has a refreshing and cooling secret picnic dish — vodka watermelon. After cutting open the watermelon, vodka is poured inside and then frozen, filling the flesh with a strong alcohol aroma, making it a huge hit at every picnic！Janet says summer is the best time for picnics. Light meals are refreshing and easy to carry, and everyone can bring their favorite foods. She also joked: “If you’re someone who loves cooking, a picnic is the perfect opportunity to use your friends as guinea pigs. If it doesn’t taste good, you can always eat theirs!”

Besides Janet, several other well-known TLC hosts will also join in the fun on the day of “TLC Taipei Picnic Day.” These include Maggie from “Maggie’s Magic Cooking,” Armando from “Cooking with the Handsome Guy,” and even Bob Blumer, the host of “World’s Weirdest Restaurants,” who is the most popular among Taiwanese audiences, will also come from afar to join in the celebration. These well-known hosts will accompany everyone from morning to night on the day of the event, interacting closely with the public！Speaking of this, Janet pulled out a secret item from her picnic basket and said: “Abroad, people usually prepare tea or cocoa for picnics, but July in Taiwan is actually very hot, so I specially prepared my favorite winter melon tea to introduce to Bob Blumer.” She said: “This is the ultimate cooling secret I discovered after exploring all over Taiwan！Guaranteed to be refreshingly cool！” She also mentioned that the best thing about picnics is the freedom and variety of ingredients, so she also prepared scallion pancakes and fried dough sticks, as well as rice balls, to recommend to Bob and give him a taste of a uniquely Taiwanese picnic.
