Not satisfied with urban road running? Push your limits at the Yilan Mountain & Sea Trail Running Challenge

Road running has become increasingly popular recently. In addition to various running events held across Taiwan, the first-ever color run in Taiwan has attracted a huge number of participants eager to sign up. But for those who love running, are you still limiting yourselves to city road runs on asphalt? The 2013 Amphibia Mountain & Sea Trail Running will take place on November 3rd, featuring a 13.8K Amphibian Extreme category and an 8.3K Trail Challenge category, with elevation gains of 280–410 meters. The route includes beaches and rocky shores, allowing runners to challenge their limits on diverse terrains while also enjoying the charm of the coastline in Toucheng, Yilan, and experiencing the mountainous freshness of the Lanyang region. This makes the run not just a test of self but also a lot of fun.

The 2013 Amphibia Mountain & Sea Trail Running uses chip timing so that participants can monitor their own performance, not only challenging themselves but also motivating each other. Based on individual fitness levels, the event is divided into an 8.3-kilometer Trail Challenge category and a 13.8-kilometer Amphibian Extreme category. Both start from the beach in front of the Branch of Yilan’s Barista Coffee Outdoors Store, taking runners through beaches, rocky shores, mountain trails, and forest paths—offering a fresh running experience that combines the sport with nature. From the coast to forest trails, participants can enjoy Taiwan’s natural mountain ecology and varied terrain.

 

With Yilan as the main venue, the event is located near the Pacific Ocean in Toucheng, which boasts a landscape of mountains and sea. The course is designed to transition from the naturally spectacular coastal route to rugged mountain trails and forest paths, providing a greater challenge for athletes and testing runners’ adaptability to amphibious routes.
