Watching movies on your smartphone or tablet is nothing new, but when that free service is offered aboard a luxury cruise ship, it’s a whole different story. Premium cruise line Silversea Cruises recently announced exciting news for tech enthusiasts. Passengers sailing on the Silver Cloud can stream movies and watch live TV news using their own mobile devices, perfectly combining sea breeze and cinematic experiences.

Any laptop, smartphone, tablet, or e-reader with Wi-Fi capability and a built-in browser can access this service. The selection includes a wide range of classic films, recent Oscar-winning blockbusters, and numerous TV shows to help you make the most of your cruise vacation. The Silver Cloud also offers a limited number of iPad mini tablets for guest use (availability is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis). By the end of 2013, the new service will also be available on four additional ships: Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper, Silver Wind, and Silver Galapagos. In the future, Silversea plans to expand the media menu to include international newspapers, truly enabling travelers to enjoy content wherever they go.
