A New Experience: Viewing Sea of Clouds and Waterfalls in Hokkaido

Want to experience the thrill of floating among clouds? The small airplane window just isn’t enough. The Sea of Clouds Platform at the Hoshino Resorts Tomamu in Hokkaido allows you to get even closer and bathe in the sea of clouds and waterfalls. The most unique feature of this platform is its altitude of around 1,000 meters, where you can closely witness the spectacular sight of the sea of clouds surging forth. The best time for viewing is at dawn, around 6–7 a.m., when a pristine white blanket gradually reveals the Hidaka and Tokachi mountain ranges emerging from the mist.

Since opening last summer, visitors can take a cable car with a single ticket directly to the platform. Please note that depending on weather conditions, the sea of clouds may not be visible or the platform may be closed. Prospective visitors can call the Unkai Dail (Sea of Clouds Hotline) or check the official Hoshino Resorts Tomamu website for the day’s operating status and the probability of seeing the sea of clouds.
