Download the "God of Cookery" Tainan Scene Guide Map Now Available

The Taiwanese cuisine in the movie "God of Cookery" looks delicious and mouthwatering, and many of the scenes filmed in Tainan make viewers eager to visit right away. To help the public more easily find the classic scenes from "God of Cookery," the Tainan City Tourism Bureau has specially produced a "God of Cookery" movie location guide map. This map connects filming sites from the movie with Tainan’s traditional group meal restaurants. It will be available for free starting this Sunday at Tainan Railway Station, Xinying Railway Station, THSR Tainan Station, Tainan Airport, and the No Rice No Money Tourist Service Center. Netizens can also download it from the Tainan City Tourism Bureau’s official website.

The guide map introduces and connects various filming locations in Tainan, including Zhongxiao Street, Mazu Tower Tianhou Temple, the Love Tree, Houpi Railway Station, Highway 84, Nansi Police Station, Lutao Yang Jiang Family Ancestral House, the Lotus Field Search, Liukong Pier, and Guiren Renshou Temple. These span 11 districts across central-western, eastern, Houpi, Guantian, Nansi, Liuying, Qigu, and Guiren in Tainan. Examples include the spot where Chef Ah Hai reminds Xiao Wan about her forgotten luggage, which was filmed at Tainan Railway Station, and the scene where Xiao Wan’s mother, the boastful Aunt Pongfeng, sings and dances to attract customers and runs her “Aifeng Snack Shop,” which was filmed at Mazu Tower Tianhou Temple on Zhongxiao Street and nearby residential buildings.

In addition, to help the public experience traditional Taiwanese cuisine, the guide map recommends featured restaurants from the 2012 and 2013 "Taiwan Group Meals Grand Prix" event that were either shortlisted or won in the Tainan area. After competition among hundreds of restaurants nationwide, Tainan’s Axia Restaurant, Taiwan Sugar Evergreen Hotel, Fucheng Food Court, and Yamato Japanese Restaurant all made the list. Selected dishes such as red rice cake, braised chicken in a pouch, five-spiced fish fillet, stir-fried eel, red-braised pork knuckle, and dried scallop pork tripe soup are all well-known traditional Taiwanese dishes.
