The Yellow Rubber Duck Makes Its Debut: Over 350,000 Visitors Flock to Kaohsiung for a Pilgrimage

 

The highly anticipated Yellow Rubber Duck made its appearance last Thursday (the 19th) at Kaohsiung’s Glory Pier, attracting over 200,000 visitors on the first day. However, due to the approaching Typhoon Usagi, it was deflated at noon on the 20th to avoid the storm. As of yesterday (the 22nd) at 15:00, it returned to Glory Pier, once again drawing 150,000 visitors to witness its inflation show. Since its unveiling, at least 350,000 people have visited Glory Pier in Kaohsiung to catch a glimpse of Asia’s largest and the world’s second-largest Yellow Rubber Duck.

In response to the Yellow Rubber Duck exhibition, flexible traffic controls have been implemented on roads around Glory Pier. Free shuttle buses are available on weekends, with the first bus departing from Exit 1 of the MRT Central Park Station at 10:30 AM, and the last bus leaving Glory Pier at 8:30 PM. Buses run every 10–20 minutes.

Additionally, to accommodate visitors with disabilities who wish to get an up-close view of the duck, the organizers have set up a temporary accessible taxi pick-up point at the entrance of Glory Pier. Holders of the Love Card or those in wheelchairs may use accessible taxis to enter the restricted area and go directly to the pier to see the duck.
