EVA Air’s Hello Kitty “Hand in Hand” livery makes stunning debut in L.A. on maiden flight

EVA Air’s first 777-300ER Hello Kitty livery aircraft—“Hand in Hand”—debuted on the Taipei-Los Angeles route. The Los Angeles Times and CNN recently reported on the flight in their online news and print editions, respectively. This marks the first time a Hello Kitty livery aircraft has flown across the Pacific and made its appearance in the U.S.

The design theme of “Hand in Hand” was conceived by the Sanrio design team. To convey a sense of embracing the world and transcending cultural barriers, the team boldly broke from previous licensing conventions by featuring multiple members of the Sanrio family in the design. In addition to the familiar Hello Kitty, the other eighteen characters each have their own appeal and fan bases. The inclusion of more characters aims to bring more warmth and fun to passengers during their journey through the skies. At the same time, the designer specially arranged for each character to hold hands, hence the name “Hand in Hand.” This design conveys the concept of love, symbolizing friendship that transcends borders. The Hello Kitty Jet builds a bridge of friendship, allowing passengers who see this livery aircraft anywhere to feel an abundance of love and care.

 

Besides being the world’s first 777 Hello Kitty livery aircraft, EVA Air also upgraded the business class cabin during the livery process, transforming it into the fully flat “Royal Laurel Class.” This is the final aircraft in EVA Air’s 777 business class upgrade plan since 2012. With this, all EVA Air 777 fleet now offer Royal Laurel Class service.

 

For this 777 Hello Kitty livery aircraft, EVA Air also designed new headrest covers and pillows themed around “Hand in Hand,” featuring the adorable Sanrio family members. In addition, the in-flight duty-free shop has launched a range of exclusive products to celebrate, including the “Hand in Hand Lip Balm Set,” “Hand in Hand Doll Set,” and “Hand in Hand Bluetooth Keyboard Set,” available for pre-order and collection by passengers.

 

Starting now, “Hand in Hand” will operate regularly on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on flight BR16 Taipei–Los Angeles, and on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays on flight BR15 Los Angeles–Taipei, accompanying more passengers on wonderful flights.
