Preview of the Main Christmas Tree Light-Up at New Taipei’s Joyful Christmas Town

Entering its third year, New Taipei’s Joyful Christmas Town will officially kick off tomorrow (the 22nd) following the lighting ceremony. The carousel and spinning teacups in Civic Square will also begin entertaining children, while the 35.5-meter-tall main Christmas tree standing in New Taipei City’s Civic Square will use LED tubes to display lively computer animations and icons. Coupled with a new combination of a Christmas bear and Santa Claus, it adds more fun and storytelling elements.

This year’s main Christmas tree is the tallest LED Christmas tree in the country, built using 3,300 LED tubes, each one meter long. Each light point can emit 256 colors * 256 colors, totaling over 60,000 colors. Paired with lively computer animations as well as the Christmas bear and Santa Claus, it presents a style unlike any previous year.

This large amusement park, Joyful Christmas Town, naturally includes rides. In addition to the carousel and spinning teacups that will accompany children throughout the event period from November 22 to January 5 next year, the Civic Square will additionally launch the “Toot-Toot Forest Train” and adorable spinning airplanes on November 22, 23, and 24. From December 14 to January 1 next year, the “Rascals’ Winter Playground” in Wanping Park and the Station Front Square will feature various rides such as inflatable castles and track trains.

The New Taipei City Government Tourism Bureau stated that this year’s light area has expanded again. The entire light zone uses a total of 2.4 million bulbs, with lighting equipment stretching approximately 300,000 meters in total — equivalent to 618 Taipei 101 towers (not including the top antenna), turning Christmas Town into a dazzling sea of lights. It’s perfect for families to stroll through together.
