【Thursday Arts & Culture】Free Entry to 30th Anniversary Exhibition at NMCA & Limited Coffee Giveaway

Taipei Fine Arts Museum will mark its 30th anniversary at the end of December. Reflecting on a full year of accumulated efforts — including collections, restorations, exhibitions, research, and the rollout of numerous educational events — the museum is poised to embrace abundant achievements this month. Furthermore, as it steps into a new phase following 30 years of operation, NMCA has specially announced special celebration events on the eve of its 30th anniversary. On the day of the celebration, visitors can enjoy free entry to exhibitions, and limited quantities of coffee and coffee-themed art cup sleeves will be given away.

Since its opening in December 1983, NMCA will celebrate its 30th founding anniversary on December 22. To thank art and culture enthusiasts who have supported the museum through its various stages over the past 30 years, a grand celebration event titled “30 With You. 30 Standing Tall” will be held in the museum lobby starting at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon. The event invites all visitors who have left their mark during NMCA’s 30-year journey to join in the birthday celebration.

 

The museum will offer free entry all day. Starting at 2:00 p.m., the birthday song will be sung in the lobby, followed by the screening of the “TFAM COLORS” short film. The concept of the video draws inspiration from the “16,847,987+ Museum Is Looking For You” old photo search campaign and the colorful sticky note message campaign. In addition to thanking participants of these two initiatives, the video also showcases the museum’s vibrant artistic sharing and dissemination over the past 30 years. From 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., the Taipei Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble will perform an era medley spanning 30 years. Meanwhile, at the outdoor plaza, CITY CAFÉ will provide complimentary aromatic hot coffee, with each cup accompanied by a coffee art cup sleeve designed based on NMCA collection works. Quantities are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

On the day of the celebration, December 22, the exhibitions on display include “Sounding Force – Audiovisual Installation Exhibition,” “Inclined Connection – Collection Exhibition Experimental Project,” “Years / Shih-Tang: 1959–2013 Photo Exhibition,” and the “2013 Taipei Arts Award.” In addition to exhibitions and activities, special publications and art merchandise will also be launched. NMCA’s two special publications for its 30th anniversary, Chronology 0-ππππ and The Past Thirty Years' Collection Reflections, offer insights into the museum's rich history, social context, and art collection from multiple perspectives. The Youthful 30: Key Moments in NMCA’s 30-Year History highlights pivotal historical moments of the museum’s past 30 years and its close ties with the development of contemporary Taiwanese art. The 30th Anniversary Collection Catalogue not only fully features over 4,500 treasured artworks from NMCA, but also includes the insights and philosophies of former museum directors regarding collection policies.

 

In terms of art derivatives, there is the “30th Anniversary Commemorative Premium Ticket Set” (the third edition), which, like the first two editions, features designs of NMCA and its collection works, offering visitors a limited-edition ticket set with both practical and collectible value. The “Complete 12: Zheng Shanxi’s Zodiac New Year Print Gift Box” is a limited-edition release featuring 12 zodiac woodblock prints created by Zheng Shanxi, winner of the National Award for Arts, from 2002 to 2013.
