The highly anticipated yellow duck of Keelung is set to make its appearance at Ocean Plaza on December 21. However, the previously much-anticipated “rotating duck,” which had generated great excitement, has been canceled due to conflicting with the original creator Hofmann’s simple and serene artistic philosophy. In a public letter yesterday, event organizer Huang Jing-tai stated that, out of respect for the creator Hofmann’s artistic vision, they had no choice but to cancel the rotation of the yellow duck.

Organizer Huang Jing-tai explained that the original intention was to bring the simple joy and happiness that the original creator Hofmann intended the yellow duck to convey to the people of Keelung, as well as to everyone who encounters, embraces, and identifies with it. However, the 360-degree rotation plan conceived by the exhibition team clashed with Hofmann’s simple and tranquil artistic philosophy. To honor the original creator’s vision, the decision was made to cancel the duck’s rotation, and the team expressed their apologies for disappointing many duck fans.
During the upcoming 50-day exhibition period, the yellow duck of Keelung will accompany fans in a natural, peaceful, and innocent manner at Keelung Harbor, sharing Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Lunar New Year, aligning not only with the simple and joyful creative philosophy of the original yellow duck creator Hofmann, but also providing a calm and serene presence for all.
