Traffic control limits attendance to 4,000 for sunrise event at Er Liao, Tainan

The sunrise at Er Liao has long been a hidden gem for photographers, with many iconic sunrise photos taken here. Since the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration first hosted the Er Liao Sunrise Welcoming Event this year, it has received an enthusiastic response from the public. Drawing on this year's experience, the administration invites the public to welcome together the most brilliant and romantic sunrise in southern Taiwan in 2014. A series of exciting activities and gifts have been specially planned, along with expanded traffic shuttle services and safety measures that can accommodate up to 4,000 people, allowing visitors to enjoy the Er Liao sunrise safely.

To allow the public to experience the Er Liao sunrise firsthand and reduce waiting times for those descending after the event, the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration has carefully arranged a crowd diversion plan. On January 1st, at the Ganglin Control Station service desk, the first 1,200 attendees will receive either a lottery ticket or an energy booster ticket, and participants can choose which one to take. Those who receive a lottery ticket can participate in a lucky draw at the main stage around 7:30 a.m. that day, with chances to win prizes such as tickets to the Tiger Head Pond Scenic Area, Maolin Valley Farm, Wushantou Reservoir, and hot spring vouchers at the Guanzi Ridge Hot Spring Resort—totaling 140 prizes. Those who receive an energy booster ticket can redeem it for a free local delicacy at the event stalls.

 

Liu Yuanlong, head of the Siraya Administration, stated that to ensure the smooth running of the event, road traffic control will be implemented along a total stretch of approximately 25 kilometers, along with arrangements for vehicle parking and shuttle services. This includes: the entire South Route 162 from 7:00 p.m. on December 31 to 10:00 a.m. on January 1, and from the intersection of South Routes 175 & 168 to the intersection of South Route 171 from midnight on January 1 to 10:00 a.m., where no vehicles will be allowed to enter. For vehicle parking, cars must be parked at the “Huju Garrison” opposite the north parking lot of Tiger Head Pond Scenic Area, while motorcycles should be parked at the “Tiger Head Pond Scenic Area North Parking Lot.” As for shuttle buses, the departure point for the outbound journey will be at the “Huju Garrison,” with shuttle services running from midnight to 5:00 a.m. on January 1. The return shuttles will be at the “Ganglin Police Station,” with scheduled times at 7:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 9:15 a.m., and 10:00 a.m., subject to adjustments based on the situation. Additionally, the public is reminded not to enter from the “Longqi District” direction (the intersection of Route 182 and South Route 162), as this section will be completely closed. The walking distance from the “Ganglin Police Station” within the controlled area to the “Er Liao Sunset Viewing Pavilion” is about 2 kilometers, taking 30–40 minutes. The sunrise is expected at around 6:40 a.m., and a capacity limit of 4,000 people will be enforced for those ascending to watch the sunrise.
