Thousands of cherry blossoms burst into bloom at the Sun Moon Lake & Nanhua University Cherry Blossom & Tea Appreciation Event

Early spring cherry blossom viewing has become a popular leisure activity across Taiwan in recent years. Covering an area of 150 hectares, National Nanhua University is surrounded by green mountains and blue skies. On its 20-hectare lawn, thousands of Taiwan mountain cherry and Japanese Somei Yoshino cherry trees have begun to bloom beautifully. The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration, National Nanhua University, and the Dapuli Area Tourism Development Association are once again hosting a cherry blossom event combining "cherry blossoms" and "Chinese tea ceremony" from January 28 to February 16, around the Lunar New Year, in the university’s cherry blossom grove. Visitors from home and abroad are invited to "enjoy fine tea and admire cherry blossoms" under the thousand blooming trees, and spend a romantic and colorful cozy afternoon.

During this year’s series of events, the “Flower & Tea Appreciation” on February 8 will feature Alishan high mountain tea and Yuchi black tea as the main teas for tasting. There will be grand tea parties in the morning and afternoon, with 200 participants per session. Each session costs NT$300, and participants will receive a set of cherry blossom souvenir tea cups, including one sniffing cup and one drinking cup. Professional tea masters will also provide tea tasting sessions and live music performances. On February 15, there will be one “Reserve-a-Cherry-Blossom-Tree Tea Party” in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each session accommodates 100 groups, with each group paying NT$200. Each group will be assigned a numbered cherry blossom tree space where they can bring their own mats and tea sets to enjoy tea and cherry blossoms with friends. Hot water and live music will be provided on site. Visitors are also welcome to book a blossoming cherry blossom tree during the season, bring their own tea sets and mats, and invite family and friends to leisurely enjoy the beauty of flowers and tea under the cherry blossom branches.

On regular days, visiting the Nanhua University campus only requires a NT$50 parking fee. Residents of Puli, Yuchi, Guoxing, and Ren’ai townships can enjoy free parking upon presenting their ID. Parking is also free on the two tea party days, February 8 and 15.
