To truly escape from worldly distractions and enjoy the freedom of doing nothing—just zoning out, daydreaming, or simply being—try embracing slow food, slow living, slow stays, and a slightly unhurried pace to experience this serene spirit. Jinguashi Adagio Homestay provides this very feeling. Once you arrive here, even the most hurried steps will inevitably slow down.

The sense of slowness in the mountains can be felt the moment guests enter the lobby. While waiting to be shown to their rooms, the friendly hosts serve delicious plum juice or hot tea and homemade cookies, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the unhurried rhythm.
Next, guests participate in a little game of choosing essential oils and drawing room keys. Select a preferred essential oil scent, and that fragrance becomes uniquely yours—everywhere from the oil diffuser lamp in the room to the shower gel and soap in the bathroom, all carry the same aroma, creating a distinctive sense of exclusivity. Additionally, each guest draws a story-themed room card for their room, turning a short tale into their room number. Thus, a book title and a curated set of aromatic amenities become the key to unlocking a tranquil stay.

Adagio has many cozy corners, as the homestay is part of the Lavender Forest group of businesses, where “Big Bear” is an indispensable highlight. The public reading area features Big Bear keeping you company while you read, and in front of the large floor-to-ceiling windows in your room, Little Bear is there as you daydream. Staying here means no interference from cable TV in the rooms—you can leisurely relax on the balcony lounge chair or lounge on the window-side daybed, gazing at the misty mountains. There’s also a small drawing board by the window, allowing guests to sketch the beauty of Jinguashi as they please. Most thoughtfully, the second-floor public library is lined with walls of great books, music, and classic films for guests to enjoy.

Here, if you’ve booked the Mountain Moon Slow Food dinner, the hosts will “tell the story of the dishes,” helping guests understand the stories behind each course and savor the cuisine even more. After dinner, the first floor transforms into a small bar, screening photos of Jiufen and Jinguashi. Guests can enjoy a cocktail, go on a date with family, partners, or spouses, and share a lovely evening together.
