Cold wave strikes again as snow falls on Yushan and Hehuanshan

A cold front swept southward across Taiwan, bringing low temperatures and high humidity to mountainous areas. Snowfall was reported in places such as Yushan, Alishan, and Hehuanshan. Among them, Yushan experienced heavy snowfall from last night (19th) until early this morning (20th), with snow accumulation exceeding 20 centimeters. Alishan also saw its heaviest snowfall in 10 years between 4:00 and 5:00 this morning, with snow depth of about 3 centimeters. However, due to clear weather and rising temperatures today, the snow quickly melted. Hehuanshan also had its heaviest snowfall of the winter season last night, with snow accumulation reaching 30 centimeters. Netizens planning to head up the mountains in the coming days are advised to ensure their vehicle tires are equipped with snow chains to avoid danger.

 

 

Netizens are reminded that temperatures on the mountains are very low. In addition to preparing adequate cold-weather gear, those driving up the mountains must ensure their vehicle tires are equipped with snow chains. Wear lightweight shoes and carry rain gear and warm clothing when heading up the mountains.
