The Taipei City Government Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Water Resources especially recommends that couples can visit the Dadaocheng Wharf at Yanping Riverside Park to enjoy the sunset stroll together and spend a romantic evening; they can also go to Chengmei Left and Right Bank Riverside Park to hang love locks, walk hand in hand across the Rainbow Bridge, and admire various love-themed landscapes for photo opportunities to convey affection and capture the sweetest moments.

On the evening of White Day, March 14, couples can first hold hands and enjoy snacks at Raohe Night Market, strolling through the market sweetly, then enter Chengmei Riverside Park from the Keelung River Floodgate No. 4 (Raohe Evacuation Gate). Both the left and right banks feature various love-themed facilities. For example, there are “I love you” signs in 12 languages—how many can you and your partner read aloud? You can sit on the lover’s stone chair shaped like FOREVER and admire the colorful light sculptures along the riverbanks, or hang a love lock on the “LOVE” or “IOU” sculptures, then walk hand in hand across the beautiful Rainbow Bridge for a sweet and romantic evening.

The Bureau of Water Resources also recommends another great spot to celebrate the occasion—Yanping Riverside Park. Couples can first explore the nearby Dihua Street shopping area and Yongle Market, visit the Moon Old Man at Xia Hai City God Temple, then enter the riverside park from Floodgate No. 5 (Dadaocheng Wharf). Here, there’s a Blue Highway wharf, a coffee plaza, and a Tangshan sailing ship. Couples can stroll hand in hand along the riverside, enjoy street performances, and admire the famous sunset over the Tamsui River.

Alternatively, those going for a retro and artsy vibe can cycle south to Taipei Confucius Temple and Dalongdong Bao’an Temple, savoring the rich cultural and historical essence together and spending a special White Day.

1. MRT: Take the Brown Line to “Taipei City Hall” Station, exit from Exit 2, transfer to Bus Blue 7 and get off at Songshan Station. Walk straight past Bade Road, enter the alley (Lane 763) to the right of Ciyun Temple, go to the end (embankment), turn left onto Songhe Street for about 150 meters to reach “Floodgate No. 4 (Raohe Evacuation Gate)”, then enter Chengmei Left Bank Riverside Park from there.
2. Train: Get off at Songshan Station and walk to the location
Yanping Riverside Park:
1. MRT: Transfer to Red 33 at Shuanglian Station and get off at Dadaocheng Wharf Station
2. Bus: Routes 9, 206, 274, 641, 669, 704 to Dadaocheng Wharf Station and routes 255, 518, 539 to Minsheng West Road Intersection Station, then walk about 10 minutes toward the end of Minsheng West Road.
