Starting at the end of April, netizens in New Taipei City will have a new scenic pedestrian bridge to enjoy cycling and outdoor activities. The exclusively pedestrian and bicycle-friendly “Crescent Moon Bridge” is located about 500 meters upstream from the Xin Hai Bridge, connecting both banks of the Dahan River bike paths. It also links Banqiao’s 435 Art & Culture District and Xinzhuang Old Street. The bridge features four uniquely themed observation and rest platforms. Among them, the “Dance of Water” platform, which spans the main river channel, includes a transparent glass skywalk. The nighttime light show, themed “Rhythm of Light,” uses illumination to highlight the elegant arches of the bridge and projects light onto the water’s edge, extending the scenic bridge's dynamic mountain-and-water aesthetic.

The Crescent Moon Bridge is approximately 725 meters long and 65 meters high. Its design adopts an “asymmetrical double-steel arch bridge” structure, with the two arches reaching heights of about 50 and 25 meters respectively, and the bridge width being 8 meters. It is the longest double-span steel arch bridge in Taiwan. The bridge features four uniquely themed observation and rest platforms: “Art of Curves,” “Shadows of Light,” “Dance of Water,” and “Rhythm of Wind.” Once the nighttime light art installation is completed, it will beautify the night scenery along the Dahan River and establish a new landmark for Banqiao and Xinzhuang. The project is currently in its final stage and is expected to be completed in April.

New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu stated that there are Banqiao Junior High School and Xinzhuang Junior High School on either side of the Dahan River. Once the Crescent Moon Bridge is completed, it will ensure the safety of students and residents alike—whether they are heading to the MRT station or taking a stroll in the sports park—by providing a clear separation between pedestrians and vehicles.
