The four Central European countries — Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia — are known as the "Visegrád Group" (Visegrad Group, V4). This group is about to launch a unique "V4 Central European Cultural Festival" that blends music and film. Initiated by Hungary as the current rotating presidency of the V4, the festival will offer Taiwanese audiences a rich, diverse, yet harmoniously unique cultural experience from Central Europe. This year’s festival holds additional symbolic significance as the four Central European countries will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their EU accession in May. Their entry into the European Union is considered one of the most successful integration initiatives in modern times, bringing peace, stability, and prosperity to the continent.

This Central European Cultural Festival is divided into two main themes: the "Taiwan V4 Film Festival" and the "Music from Central Europe" concert. The "Taiwan V4 Film Festival" will run from May 16 to July 31, screening films from the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia across nine cities in Taiwan — Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung — at venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Hsinchu Image Museum, National Chung Hsing University, and Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages. The "Music from Central Europe" concert will be held on June 21 at the Zhongzheng Hall of Taipei Zhongshan Hall, featuring a performance by the Taipei Symphony Orchestra. Chief Conductor Gilbert Varga will lead the orchestra, accompanied by Hungarian pianist Dezso Ranki and TSO Principal Violinist Jiang Zhiyi, delivering a captivating musical experience.
