Located in Taichung, the Broadcasting Bureau is an 80-year-old historic building that played a pivotal role in the history of broadcasting during the Japanese colonial period. Its East-meets-West architectural exterior and the then-modern interior spaces have retained their timeless charm, making this old broadcasting station a romantic hipster attraction worth a half-day visit for travelers.

To allow Japanese residents in Taiwan to listen to the Emperor’s enthronement ceremony, the Taichung Broadcasting Bureau officially opened in the 10th year of Showa (1935). At that time, following the Taipei and Tainan Broadcasting Bureaus, the Taiwan Governor-General’s Office decided to establish a broadcasting station in central Taiwan, making it the third most important broadcasting building in the entire island.
