Seven Major Flower Varieties Bloom Successively in New Taipei City’s Floral Journey

As spring warms and flowers bloom, what blooms can you enjoy in New Taipei City in April? The former city flower “azalea,” known for its hardy vitality, blooms in spring with vibrant, colorful blossoms; the “Bauhinia,” also nicknamed the “tropical cherry blossom,” blooms from March to April, with leaves resembling cow hooves and few leaves but abundant peach to purple flowers covering the treetops; the pinkish-purple “neem flower,” a tall deciduous tree native to the region, features clusters of small pinkish-purple blossoms resembling tiny umbrellas, along with a faint, elegant fragrance; similarly pinkish-purple “wisteria,” an ornamental garden plant, blooms from late March to early April, with cascading clusters of flowers hanging from trellises like wind chimes; the “pussy willow” in April is covered with pure white blossoms resembling snowflakes on its treetops, hence its nickname “April Snow”; the short-blooming “golden trumpet tree” boasts bright yellow flowers and only a one-week to ten-day blooming period; the “kapok tree,” commonly known as the “hero tree,” is a large deciduous tree with straight trunks covered in wart-like thorns. In April, it blooms with orange-red to fiery red flowers, contrasted by dark brown sepals, further highlighting the kapok flower’s symbolism of “passion.”
