Taiwan High Speed Rail Mother’s Day tickets go on presale at midnight on April 12

For Mother’s Day 2014, Taiwan High Speed Rail will operate 36 additional train services (21 southbound and 15 northbound) over a four-day transport period from May 9 to 12, providing a total of 598 services. During the Mother’s Day transport period, early bird discounts apply to 386 services. Passengers who purchase tickets between 8 and 28 days before their travel date may enjoy early bird discounts of 65%, 80%, or 90%. Starting from midnight on April 12 (Saturday), passengers can purchase round-trip tickets for the Mother’s Day transport period in one go through convenience stores partnered with THSR, the online booking system, the T Express mobile ticketing system, the voice reservation system, or at ticket windows and ticket vending machines at stations during operating hours. THSR kindly asks passengers to reserve seats in advance and pick up their tickets early so they can go straight to the platform upon arrival, saving time queuing for tickets and avoiding crowds at the station.

During the Mother’s Day transport period, all trains will continue to offer 3 to 4 cars of non-reserved seating. Passengers holding periodic tickets, round-trip tickets, or EasyCard co-branded cards (with auto-load enabled) can directly tap in and use the non-reserved seating.

The transport period will feature special offers such as the “University Student Discount,” “Standard Carriage Cardholder Discount,” and “Business Carriage Limited Upgrade.” However, programs such as the “Off-Peak Weekday Discount,” “Senior Citizen Discount,” “Groups of 30 or More,” and “School Excursions” are not applicable during this period.

 

In addition, for the first time during the transport period, THSR has designated 16 specific services in the standard carriage with assigned seating, all offering early bird discounts of either 65% or 90% (see table below).
