【Sunday Slow Time】Breathe with the Light in a Bright Lounge of an Old Warehouse

The concept behind Breathe with the Light is to make every visitor feel as comfortable as they would in their own living room. The operators are a group of students from Tainan City Community College’s Aesthetics and Industrial Incubation program, all with entrepreneurial aspirations. After finding the current location, they commissioned designer Pan Junyuan to renovate the space. From the outside, the changes are minimal—the iron signboard and the characteristic rain shutters and rolling shutter doors of Japanese architecture are still in place. But once you push open the door, the sense of space transforms instantly—you step into a white corridor adorned with hanging illustrations and tree-shadow patterns that continue the outdoor atmosphere. Small tables display flyers for art and cultural events, and the exposed concrete floor subtly hints at the building’s history. Inside the restaurant, the double-height ceiling opens up the space dramatically. The bright-hued furniture and green-and-white color scheme carry a Nordic vibe. The steel beams spanning the roof have been retained, while seating is generously spaced. Each section on the first floor feels like a small living room, complete with its own sofa and dining table. The second floor, with its L-shaped floor plan, has fewer seats and walls lined with bookshelves, inviting guests to pick up a book and read.
