Foreign tourists love visiting Hualien; international media shocked by earthquake reports

After multiple days of felt earthquakes since February 4, a strong quake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale occurred around 23:50 on February 6. The tremor was felt across Taiwan, with Hualien experiencing a seismic intensity of 7. Many buildings were tilted or collapsed, not only drawing concern and prayers for safety from the people of Taiwan, but also prompting well-wishes from foreign media and netizens.

The massive earthquake in Hualien has drawn coverage from media outlets around the world, including U.S. media such as CNN, BBC, The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. Additionally, South Korea, Japan, and the BBC have also reported on the earthquake in Taiwan. On South Korea’s Naver search portal, “Taiwan” and “Taiwan earthquake” ranked 5th and 6th on the hot search list.
