The number of countries and regions where Taiwanese citizens can enjoy visa-free (or visa-on-arrival) entry and visa facilitation with a Republic of China passport has increased to 140. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that four countries—Papua New Guinea (Papua New Guinea), Togo (Togo), Cape Verde (Cape Verde), and the Union of the Comoros (Union of the Comoros)—have been added to the list of countries where Taiwanese can obtain a visa on arrival. Additionally, Taiwanese citizens can enter Anguilla (a British Overseas Territory) visa-free, bringing the total number of countries and regions accessible either visa-free or with a visa on arrival to 140. These measures have been confirmed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and are listed on its official website.

The following are the precautions and relevant regulations for traveling to the aforementioned countries or regions:

Papua New Guinea: The Papua New Guinean government has included Taiwan on its list of countries eligible for visa-on-arrival. Taiwanese passport holders arriving at Jacksons International Airport in Papua New Guinea with a return ticket can apply for a single-entry tourist or business visa, valid for up to 60 days from the date of entry. This measure has been announced on the website of the Papua New Guinea Immigration Department.

Togo: If traveling directly from Taiwan to Togo, Taiwanese passport holders with a return (or onward) ticket can apply for a visa on arrival at Lomé Airport (Lomé-Tokoin Airport), with a maximum stay of 7 days (approximately 15 euros fee). If necessary, the stay can be extended up to 90 days (fees vary depending on the length of stay). However, if there is a Togolese embassy or consulate in the country where you reside abroad, you must apply for a visa in advance.

Cape Verde: If your departure location does not have a Cape Verdean embassy or office, you can apply for a visa on arrival at the airport in Cape Verde. The visa is typically valid for up to 30 days, costs 25 euros, and requires you to prepare relevant documents and proof of financial means. Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay.

Union of the Comoros: Taiwanese citizens holding a passport valid for more than 6 months and with a return (or onward) ticket can apply for a visa on arrival at local airports in the Comoros. The visa fee is 30 euros or 50 US dollars.

Anguilla (British Overseas Territory): The Anguillan government has confirmed visa-free treatment for Taiwanese citizens. Those holding a valid passport with an ID number can enter visa-free for one month for tourism-related activities. If an extension is needed, an application must be submitted to the island’s immigration authorities, with possible stays of up to 6 months depending on the circumstances. This measure has been announced on the Anguilla Immigration Department’s website.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reminds Taiwanese citizens to pay attention to their personal safety and abide by local laws during their stay in these countries and regions.
