"Pelé" livery aircraft by Emirates joins the World Cup frenzy

The most talked-about event of 2014, the FIFA World Cup, was grandly held in Brazil. Football fans worldwide were captivated by the outstanding performances of football stars from various countries. Emirates, one of the major sponsors of this year’s World Cup, recently revealed its first Boeing 777-300ER “Pelé” livery aircraft. Pelé, the football legend, serves as Emirates’ global brand ambassador and is a player who has won the FIFA World Cup three times. Before the livery aircraft took off, Pelé personally signed its fuselage. This “Pelé” livery aircraft features a fuselage adorned with a specially designed FIFA World Cup image by Emirates, along with the signature of the legendary football icon.

The "Pelé" livery aircraft will operate on the Dubai–São Paulo route, with two additional Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s to be painted in the same livery and join the fleet. During the 2014 World Cup, the "Pelé" livery aircraft is expected to carry over 18,000 passengers from around the world via Dubai to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to witness the thrilling matches.

To ensure no football fan misses out on any World Cup updates, Emirates will live-stream the matches on selected flights through its ice inflight entertainment system. Passengers on other flights can also stay up to date with the latest match information via the ice system.
