The Penghu National Scenic Area Administration (hereinafter referred to as the PNSAA) will hold the “Taiwan Summer Solstice 235 – Penghu Wengong Island Light and Music Festival” on Saturday, June 21st from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Wengong Island Lighthouse. This event originates from the Tourism Bureau’s “Taiwan Summer Solstice 235” summer festival, which is a tourism marketing initiative organized by the Tourism Bureau across its managed scenic areas located along Taiwan’s Tropic of Cancer. The aim is to create a brand image centered around the themes of “coolness, tranquility, and energy conservation.” As Penghu lies south of the Tropic of Cancer near Husi Islet, last year the PNSAA also established landmarks such as the “I’m in Penghu, the Happy Sky Ladder” and “Happiness Closely (Husi) Embraced” on Xishan of Husi Islet, hoping to connect various tourist attractions on Penghu Island and boost tourism enthusiasm for the southern sea area—specifically Husi and Tongpan Islets.

This year, on the evening of June 21st, the PNSAA will host an event at the Wengong Island Lighthouse—the oldest lighthouse on Taiwan proper—where attendees can enjoy the sunset over Xiyu and participate in the lighting ceremony. The event will feature a live piano performance by Mr. Ma Yangwei, a native of Penghu from the National Taipei University of the Arts, as well as a jazz duet performance by saxophonist and trumpeter teachers Chen Xiren and Liu Jianhong from the Jazz Philharmonic Ensemble. These performances aim to offer distinguished guests a deep experience of the unique cool, tranquil, romantic, and energy-saving green tourism environment that defines Penghu’s summer. The hope is to continue innovating and showcasing diverse and distinctive forms of tourism in Penghu, attracting more domestic and international visitors to the area.
