Ancient Roman-era caves turned into Spanish hotel suites – rustic charm & excellent ventilation

When you think of sleeping in a cave, many might immediately picture darkness and bats flying around. But this cave suite in Spain might just change your impression – it looks super cozy and, most importantly, is full of rustic charm.

According to Lonely Planet, the Cuevas del Pino hotel in southern Spain is located about a 30-minute drive from the city center of Córdoba. It’s a rural retreat that offers four independent suites for rent, one of which, Casa Tierra, is built into the rock and is particularly special.

Designed by professional architects, the residence covers an area of about 90 square meters, preserving the original cave environment. Visitors will be pleasantly surprised to find that the cave has such good ventilation and plenty of natural light. The suite is fully equipped with a full kitchen, washing machine, and even a small terrace to enjoy the beautiful views outside.

This cave is considered by archaeologists to date back to the Roman era or even earlier, possibly used as a shelter. The architect achieved the goal of symbiosis between nature and architecture. Casa Tierra is priced at €115 (NT$6,000) per night.
