2014 New Taipei City Gongliao International Marine Music Festival Lineup Announced

July 12th is the highlight of the Marine Music Festival — the “Marine Independent Music Grand Prix.” In addition to the top 10 competing bands vying for the highest honor, the event will also welcome back 2013 “Marine Star” winners “Qiu Yu Yue Band” and “FLUX,” 2013 “Jury’s Grand Prize” winner “Dark White Collar Class,” 2013 “Marine Independent Music Grand Prix” winner “TRASH,” and special guest performances by veteran of the festival Crowd Lu, symbolizing the passing on of the festival’s spirit. July 13th’s theme, “Rock Across the Oceans,” represents music without borders, where bands can learn and connect through their music. The lineup includes Australia’s Elliot the Bull, Sweden’s Her Bright Skies, India’s Indian Ocean, Madagascar’s Kilema, Canada’s Your Favorite Enemies, and Taiwan’s rock diva aMEI, who will close the festival. This year’s Marine Music Festival promises big names every day and unforgettable performances all around — don’t miss it.

Beyond the live rock performances, a variety of exciting activities continue non-stop. The official Facebook fan page of the tourism bureau, “New Taipei Travellers,” in conjunction with the Marine Music Festival promotion, launched the campaign “Everyone has a Marine Music Festival in their heart — share your high moment, build Z2!” inviting fans to submit their high-energy phrases to create their own Marine Music Festival-style Facebook cover. One phrase template plays on director Ang Lee’s famous quote “In everyone’s heart, there is a Brokeback Mountain,” turning it into “In everyone’s heart, there is a Marine Music Festival.” Many celebrities shared their thoughts on the festival at the press conference, with Chang Chen-yue and MATZKA being the first to offer theirs. Chang wrote, “In everyone’s heart, there is a Marine Music Festival — for me, it’s hot weather + ice-cold beer,” while MATZKA said, “In everyone’s heart, there is a Marine Music Festival — for me, it’s where I discovered Taiwan’s original bands.” Starting now, anyone who submits their “high moment” phrase on the New Taipei Travellers Facebook page — whether serious, humorous, or artsy — could win a Sony Z2 if it gets the most votes. Other fans sharing “high moments” can also enter to win over 40 great prizes, including a GoPro HERO3 camera worth thousands, sports watches, and LOMO waterproof cameras.
