Most people have probably tried yakiniku, but have you ever experienced a barbecue feast that rivals a surf-and-turf meal? Located on Minsheng Road in southern Taoyuan, “How Ni Premium Binchotan Yakiniku Ranch” uses high-grade Japanese binchotan charcoal for grilling. Paired with premium black-haired wagyu & black-haired pork, a variety of seafood, and diverse side dishes, the entire meal offers not only a luxurious experience but also leaves you feeling fully satisfied and content.

Since the restaurant owns its own fishing boats in Hualien, you can enjoy a wide range of fresh, unique, and delicious seafood. Paired with top-quality meats and personalized tableside service, one meal here will leave you completely stuffed.

The restaurant is located on Minsheng Road, with its white signboard with black lettering standing out quite noticeably at night. This area is mostly residential, but an increasing number of quality restaurants have started to set up shop here. There are street parking spaces available, and there are also several paid parking lots nearby, making it fairly convenient whether you’re riding a scooter or driving.

“How Ni Premium Binchotan Yakiniku Ranch” not only insists on using higher-quality and more expensive Japanese binchotan charcoal for grilling, but also offers a variety of premium meats and exclusive seafood selections. Come here and you can enjoy a delicious surf-and-turf feast.

The modern and stylish interior creates a relaxing atmosphere. The entrance is located in a relatively inconspicuous spot, but once inside, the spacious and well-designed space provides a cozy environment for friends and family gatherings.

The best time to visit is on a weekday evening. Who would’ve thought that such a hidden gem would be so crowded even on a weekday night?

There’s also a wide selection of drinks and desserts. The walls are adorned with charts showing the different cuts of beef, which is not only educational but also helpful. The blackboard lists daily limited or newly launched dishes, providing great reference for diners when ordering.

In addition, there are many small side dishes, and the portions are surprisingly generous.

There are also some cozy private rooms, perfect for those who want a quieter meal or for small gatherings.

There’s also a café here that serves coffee, which is perfect for those who enjoy coffee after their meal. I personally really like their coffee, and you can get a cup here too, which is a nice bonus.

They also offer a good selection of alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic drinks. The meal here is truly delightful (those under 18 please do not drink alcohol).

The restaurant has a license, and the chefs also have professional certifications.

What the restaurant provides is indeed premium-grade ingredients. It’s truly exceptional.

Each person receives a set menu that includes options for seafood, meat, vegetables, and starches. You can customize your choices based on your personal preferences.

Because the meat and seafood are of such high quality, whether you pair them with seafood or meat, or choose vegetables and starches, everything tastes amazing.

The charcoal used here is also premium-grade binchotan. Not only does it produce little smoke, but it also doesn’t affect the taste of the food. The heat is strong, so the food cooked comes out beautifully. Plus, there’s a dessert option, and although the price is a bit higher, the quality of the ingredients is top-notch.

Actually, we later found out that they also offer tableside service. We just needed to pick up our chopsticks and eat to our heart’s content XD.

This time we ordered the couple’s set meal for 2,680 TWD, which included six types of meat, four types of seafood, and nine side dishes—pretty lavish, right? The contents included the following dishes:
Bone-in Short Rib with Vegetable Fruit Glaze
Grilled Raw Wagyu Beef
Wagyu Gold Brick Short Ribs
Korean Sauce Frosting Pork Belly
Spiced Iberico Pork Loin Chop
Herb-Marinated Chicken Leg Tenderloin
Hokkaido Raw Scallops Served Seared
Miso-Seared Snail with Broth
Live wild prawns delivered straight from fishing boats
Sweet miso-glazed crystal rolls
Hawaiian volcano fruit with fleur de sel
Colorful wild garden vegetables (grilled)
Meat-wrapped vegetables (raw, can be replenished)
Appetizers (Korean kimchi / Japanese yuzu radish)
Baked cheese cream on komatsuna greens
Kishu binchotan-grilled rice with 15-year-old preserved plum and premium Koshihikari
Limited-edition handmade Asahi soup
Seasonal fruits / Exquisite desserts
3-day-aged Yirgacheffe cold drip coffee

%The oysters here are really huge, served simply with lemon, mustard, and red vinegar. They’re not only tender and juicy, but your mouth is filled with a rich ocean flavor. The delicate and smooth texture is so enjoyable — the best part is there’s absolutely no fishy taste, so you won’t feel uneasy eating them at all!

%The Hawaiian volcanic fruit here is really special. I rarely see it elsewhere, but you can try it yourself. It’s truly bursting with sweetness!

%We had the volcanic fruit already grilled once before, but after just a light roast on the charcoal again, it was incredibly fragrant, crisp, and sweet!

%The tuna tartare here comes with several toppings. The tuna is fresh and fatty, giving off a luscious sheen. When mixed with the toppings and torched slightly, it looks absolutely gorgeous and tastes even better!

%At first glance, the tuna might look a bit plain, but it’s actually very flavorful. There’s no overly fishy aftertaste, and when paired with the grilled toppings, the contrast in textures is really satisfying!

%For the appetizers (yuzu radish / Korean kimchi), the yuzu radish has a subtle fruity aroma, and its tangy, sweet, and crispy texture is quite refreshing and appetizing. The kimchi is a great companion to grilled meats — not only is it delicious on its own, but it also pairs wonderfully with lettuce wraps for a refreshing bite!

%The 15-year-old preserved plum Koshihikari rice is really something. The Koshihikari grains are distinct and firm, sticky yet sweet, and paired with the 15-year-old sour plum, it’s even more appetizing!

%The homemade miso soup is really rich in flavor. It’s made with high-quality ingredients — seaweed, tofu, mushrooms, and green onions — all simmered together for over five hours, and the portion is super generous. Two people can’t even finish it, XD!

%The miso soup here is surprisingly flavorful, and it’s not too salty at all. It really gives off the feeling of a home-cooked meal. You can really taste the umami from the ingredients!

%The tofu and mushrooms also have a natural harmony of flavors. The tofu is soft and silky, while the mushrooms are rich and savory. When paired with the miso soup, it’s really satisfying!

%Although we were already starting to feel a bit full from the oysters, this was honestly just the beginning...

%Next up were the American wagyu ribeye strips and gold brick short ribs. Their meat is pre-marinated, and you can tell the marbling and quality are pretty good!

%Then they brought out the short ribs, which were sizzling on the charcoal grill. It got us hungry all over again!

%You could tell the chef was very skilled. The meat wasn’t over-charred at all, nor was it undercooked. It was just right!

%Because the short ribs and ribeye have different textures, the cooking time needed is a bit different too. But the chef handled it really well!

%The perfectly grilled short ribs had a beautiful sear, and the level of doneness was just amazing!

%Here comes the delicious food! The staff are very attentive and will cut the ribeye and short ribs into bite-sized pieces for you. One bite each is just perfect!

%The short ribs are really wonderful. The parts closer to the bone have a bit more chew, but they’re not tough. The meatier parts are tender and fatty, bursting with juicy, sweet flavors in your mouth — it’s truly delicious!

%The ribeye has a nice firm texture. When you take a bite, the juices burst in your mouth, leaving a rich umami flavor that’s hard to forget!

% The meat is incredibly tender and flavorful. We used premium pork belly, grilled to perfection with a slightly curled texture on the fat and a slight crispiness on the edges—absolutely delicious!

% The pork belly is grilled at the table (you can choose the level of doneness). We recommend enjoying it when the meat is just slightly curled and the fat is lightly crispy. It’s soft, sweet, and has a delightful chewy texture, perfectly complemented by the sweet-savory Korean sauce.

% As for the raw side dishes (you can request more), we enjoyed the grilled pork belly with kimchi and lettuce. It was chewy, tender, and had a nice crunch, while the mildly spicy and tangy kimchi helped cut through the richness.

% Another drink we tried was the plum soda. It had a subtle fruity aroma and wasn’t too sweet. The other plum-based soda had a few actual plum pieces at the bottom, offering a tangy, sweet, and refreshing taste that paired wonderfully with the grilled meat.

% The miso rice balls were served with special fish floss. This was also a complimentary dish from the restaurant. At first glance, it looked quite filling, but after one bite, it was so delicious we couldn’t help but finish it all!

% The grilled rice balls were coated in a sweet miso glaze. They also came with homemade fish floss, seaweed, and white sesame seeds, offering a rich and layered texture. The fish floss added a savory and smooth taste, making it incredibly addictive. If you enjoy a crispy texture, you can grill it a bit longer for an even crunchier bite!

% The pork cheek was another highlight. The skin was thin, fragrant, and chewy, while the meat was tender, delicate, and elastic, bursting with a rich fatty flavor. A sprinkle of salt and pepper enhanced the taste even more!

% We also ordered the pepper & herb chicken thigh and fillet. Both meats were pre-marinated with salt, pepper, and herbs, so they were ready to go straight on the charcoal grill.

% The chicken thigh had juicy fat and firm meat, perfect for slow nibbling. Grilling it over charcoal gave it both a smoky flavor and the natural taste of the meat.

% The chicken wings were juicy and flavorful. The skin was crispy, and the meat was sweet and tender, with a hint of herbal aroma. They were delicious on their own or with Japanese soy sauce.

% The grilled vegetables were not only colorful and vibrant but also beautifully presented. Ingredients like mushrooms and king oyster mushrooms were large, juicy, and naturally sweet. The green chili peppers were not spicy at all, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior—very unique!

% The asparagus was grilled without oil and was incredibly juicy, sweet, and crisp—absolutely delicious!

% The seafood platter included fresh sashimi, scallops, abalone slices, sea urchin, and shrimp. Each dish was not only fresh but also exquisitely presented.

% The rice was cooked using a mix of grains. Before serving, it was stir-fried with garlic and butter, giving it a rich umami flavor and a perfect texture.

% The grilled scallops were already seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend trying them—they’re absolutely amazing.

% The seafood platter was already seasoned before grilling, so it was incredibly flavorful once cooked. It was truly a feast!

% The grilled shrimp was also served directly on the charcoal grill. The shells were particularly crispy, which prevented the shrimp from curling up and solved the issue of uneven cooking. The shrimp were tender, juicy, and had a satisfying umami and sweetness.

% The seafood platter was yet another highlight. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful—what more could you ask for?

The taste of the grilled shrimp was distinct from the others—it was sweet and juicy, with the shrimp flavor locked inside the meat. The charcoal aroma made it even more irresistible!

% The grilled vegetables were also sweet and fresh on their own. A sprinkle of a little sea salt or Japanese soy sauce enhanced their natural flavors.

% The enoki mushrooms were grilled directly on the charcoal. They were not only tender and juicy but also had a nice crispiness. They were delicious even on their own!

% The drink we paired with the meal was a DINGMAI beer. It had fine bubbles and a subtle malt aroma. It wasn’t bitter at all but instead had a sweet, refreshing aftertaste that paired wonderfully with the grilled meat. (Under 18s, please do not drink alcohol.)

% The dessert plate looked unusual at first glance—not because of the ice cream, but because of the container it was served in. Can you guess what it was made from? It was actually molded from a snow crab shell. It was surprisingly heavy and probably the only snow crab shell dessert plate in Taiwan, XD.

% The ice cream was made with melted snow crab and baked into the shell. It was creamy, sweet, and had a strong cheese aroma that was absolutely addictive.

% The snow crab shell was also part of the presentation. The ice cream had a unique flavor, and the combination of the shell and the ice cream was unexpectedly wonderful.

% We ordered two servings for the two of us, and the table was almost too full to fit everything. Some dishes weren’t even in the frame (sigh~).

% Looking back, it wasn’t just the high quality of the ingredients, generous portions, or great taste—it also came with excellent service. The value for money was truly amazing. But wait, it gets even better….

% The honey-grilled lamb skewers were another must-try specialty here. They were absolutely fantastic.

% When you first look at the drink menu, you might think those aren’t regular cups—but molds for butter-grilled dishes. Can you spot them?

% The egg tarts had a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior. Paired with sweet, rich condensed milk, they were the perfect match and incredibly satisfying in every bite.

Was it 90% alcohol? We thought we wouldn’t be able to handle much more, but then we ordered another red date, goji berry, and white fungus soup. It was smooth, crisp, not overly sweet, generously portioned, and deliciously refreshing!

We also got a bowl of cherry tomato salad. At first glance, you might think it’s just a simple dish, but it actually comes with a variety of dressings and seasonings that complement each other really well. The cherries were quite generous in size, with a nice balance of tartness and sweetness—definitely satisfying and made us really happy!

They also served an iced drip coffee with fig and Yirgacheffe. This is made using the shop’s own cold drip coffee machine, dripping slowly drop by drop. It’s rich, aromatic, and has a hint of fruity flavor—it’s delicious even on its own!

“Ox King Binchotan BBQ Ranch” not only offers a lively, comfortable, yet elegant dining atmosphere, but also pairs a variety of carefully selected meats and specialty seafood with attentive tableside service, so you can enjoy your barbecue meal without any stress or hassle. Their menu sometimes changes with the seasons, but it’s always exciting and diverse. For example, our set meal for two was so good that both of us couldn’t stop eating—and there was even a moment when we had too much to finish in one bite XD The ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and with their professional grilling skills, it’s perfect for gatherings, holiday celebrations, birthdays, or just treating yourself. We highly recommend it. If you have the chance, come and give it a try—you might end up just as satisfied and full as we did!
