This year’s 【Summer Jazz Party at the National Theater & Concert Hall】, exclusively sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Taiwan, offers an incredibly exciting lineup of indoor concerts and outdoor jazz parties. It aims to bring all jazz enthusiasts together on this midsummer night, breaking down the barriers of venue spaces, and through the flawless performances of both domestic and international jazz elites, to rediscover the purest emotions for jazz and an incredibly passionate vibrancy that stirs the senses.

The prelude to the 【Summer Jazz Party at the National Theater & Concert Hall】 is, as always, led by the outdoor party. On the evening of August 8, Australia’s premier a cappella group “The Idea of North” will interpret classic jazz pieces with bright and energetic tones, bringing their impeccable heavenly harmonies close to the audience. The Soy La Ley Cuban jazz band, staying true to its mission of blending jazz with Cuban music, allows listeners to experience the unpredictability of jazz improvisation within Latin rhythms.From Rumba, Danzon, Salsa to Latin Jazz, bandleader Hsu Chong-yu hopes to bring the sounds of Harlem and Latin culture back to Taiwan, spreading music and also rooting culture.On August 9, the youthful elite big band of the National Theater & Concert Hall Jazz Camp will kick off the event, with these high school and university jazz enthusiasts radiating the pure infectious passion for music.In the second half of the concert that day, the charming and award-winning “O.K. Chorale” – winners of the Best Vocal Group award at the 24th Golden Melody Awards – will take the stage as the finale, keeping the explosive energy going.

The 2014 【Summer Jazz Party at the National Theater & Concert Hall】 runs from August 15 to September 13, inviting international jazz masters to perform once a week.It kicks off on August 15 with legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb leading the way, joined by internationally acclaimed Latin jazz trumpet maestro Michael Mossman, Grammy-nominated saxophonist Antonio Hart, as well as elite musicians from the National Theater & Concert Hall Summer Jazz Festival Orchestra: Huang Ruei-feng, Wei Guangfg, Dong Shun-wen, Peng Yu-wen, Lee Cheng-yu, Yamada Yohei, Chang Kun-de, Wu Cheng-chun, and Liao Chih-ming, who will compete in musical brilliance, combining their vibrant playing styles to create a distinctly unique jazz experience.
