National Geographic125Anniversary Classic Photography Exhibition Valentine's Event

To leave behind a timeless Valentine’s memory, the "National Geographic" magazine 125-year cover light gallery is definitely a must-visit romantic spot. The "Explore Infinity – National Geographic 125 Years of Classic Photography Exhibition" is currently on display at the Taichung National Museum of Natural Science. On February 8 (Saturday), Valentine’s Day, visitors who present two ticket stubsand kiss at the exhibition entrance while taking a photo for check-in can enter a draw for chocolate and red wine gift boxes, Austrian jam, classic photography postcards, or the iPad edition of National Geographic. Painted Water Lanterns at Keelung Ghost Festival Romantic Lantern Release for Qixi Festival

The Keelung Ghost Festival will reach its highly anticipated climax next Saturday (August 9) with the spectacular Water Lantern Parade. This Saturday (August 2), on the evening of Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine’s Day), a pre-event Painted Prayer Water Lantern Release will be held at Ocean Plaza, allowing the general public to experience this unique Keelung Ghost Festival tradition. Participants can also unleash their creativity by writing wishes on the lanterns to pray for blessings and good fortune.The event will also showcase award-winning entries from the Creative Water Lantern Competition organized by the Keelung City Government prior to the festival. These uniquely imaginative lanterns will provide attendees with an artistic treat alongside the lantern release.

Where to go in the sweltering summer? Aside from eating ice cream, shopping, or staying in air-conditioned spaces, why not step into an art gallery to watch movies? Young directors from around the world, showcasing their most representative and promising short films, have carefully curated a selection just for you. The [2014 Youth Future Film Festival] is an international short film festival organized, programmed, and curated by youth groups. The [2014 Youth %? Future Film Festival] embodies an aesthetic spirit of diversity, vitality, local identity, self-discovery, and social awareness. “These are the issues we truly care about—this is a film festival that truly belongs to the new generation,” said curator Lin Wei-lun confidently.

This year marks the fifth edition of the contemporary youth film festival, which has partnered with the “Future Film Day” team to organize the “2014 Youth Future Film Festival.” Time is the fairest resource bestowed upon us by God. From the perspective of the absolute self, it represents the linear continuation of the past, present, and future. Some describe time as a long river, flowing continuously from ancient times to the present. From the perspective of the relative other-self—whether juniors, peers, or elders; children, fathers, or grandfathers—time might resemble more of a cycle, shaped through understanding, communication, and imagination. As the Mayday song “Dry” goes: “Now is that future, that world.” Imagine when the envisioned future finally arrives—will we be ready to embrace it? Envisioning the future is, in truth, an exercise in confronting the self, strengthening the exploration and reflection on the meaning of “now/NOW” and our existence. The “past” shapes the “present,” and the “present” creates the “future.” That glimmer in the eyes of those who speak passionately about the future is none other than “youth.”
