Dongyue Cold Spring is a crystal-clear spring hidden beneath a railway bridge, located in Dongyue Village, Nan’ao Township. It's a secret swimming spot beloved by locals.

Dongyue Spring was accidentally discovered during the construction of the double-track section of the North-Link Railway in the 1990s. The construction team specially channeled the spring water into the Dong’ao River. Later, it was buried by landslides caused by typhoons. Recently, it has been restored as a spring park, currently free of charge. However, during the summer vacation months of July, August, and September, food stalls are allowed to set up inside to sell cooked food and water play items. The roughly 100-ping pool area is divided into three swimming zones, with an average depth of about 0.5 meters. The spring water remains between 14-16 degrees Celsius year-round, cooler than the 22-degree temperature of the Su’ao Cold Spring. With its abundant water flow, clear water quality, and nearby large grassy areas, it’s an ideal destination for families to visit and enjoy water activities.

 

The easiest way to reach Dongyue Spring is by taking a train to Dong’ao Station and walking for about ten minutes. Although you can find camping platforms within Dongyue Spring Park, camping and barbecuing are currently prohibited due to concerns about pollution from being too close to the water source.
