The Dead Sea, located at the border between Jordan and Palestine, originates from the Jordan River, and is the lowest lake in the world in terms of elevation, with its surface at -424 meters above sea level, earning it the title of the “Navel of the Earth” as the lowest and deepest place on the planet.

The Dead Sea is called so because its high salt content prevents most animals and aquatic life from surviving in its waters. In recent years, the Dead Sea has been under serious threat due to the long-term extraction of water by Jordan and Israel for irrigation and domestic use, putting its water level at great risk. This has led to numerous plans to save the Dead Sea’s water level, including constructing canals to connect the Dead Sea with the Mediterranean Sea or the Red Sea to stabilize its water level. However, due to major challenges and economic and Middle Eastern political issues, no agreement has yet been reached.
