Taipei Book Fair Kicks Off Pre-New Year with Ten Innovative Promotions for the “Era of Reading Power”

The annual Taipei International Book Exhibition opened on Tuesday, February 6th. In line with the theme “Era of Reading Power,” this year’s fair introduces ten major innovations in space, services, activities, and promotions—upgraded compared to previous years, marking a significant leap forward in reading experiences.

The Israeli Theme Pavilion is a major highlight of the book fair, bringing not only food but also literary works, exuding a rich exotic atmosphere. Step into the Time Corridor, filled with best-selling Israeli books such as “The Diary of Anne Frank,” and learn about popular Israeli authors like Noa Yedlin and Gil Hovav, who will also appear for live lectures during the exhibition.

Additionally, the “interactive installation” is another highlight. Visitors can take a photo on-site and use the Israeli-developed app “I make” to transform their face in the illustration style of Hanoch Piven. The exhibit also showcases portraits of President Tsai Ing-wen, the late entertainer Chu Ko-liang, and Israeli actress Gal Gadot. Plus, try on VR goggles to experience walking the streets of Jerusalem firsthand.

The three pavilions featuring children’s exhibitions have also set up a “Find It Paradise” for kids, where parents can dress up as Detective Conan with their children and enjoy the thrill of solving challenges. The 2018 Taipei International Book Exhibition will open its doors to the public starting at 3:00 PM on February 6 and run for six days as a reading carnival. Book lovers are welcome to join in the fun.
