【Thursday Arts Night】Join the Starry Sky Cinema at Treasure Hill for a Fun Night Out

Treasure Hill used to be a military camp. In the past, when movies were screened within the camp, the military would invite residents to enjoy the films together, fostering camaraderie. This event hopes to strengthen the positive relationship between the art village and local residents through outdoor cinema screenings.We sincerely invite all movie lovers to come cool off and enjoy a film under the stars at Treasure Hill this weekend.

Treasure Hill is unique compared to other spaces, as it was formed by original residents building their own homes independently over different periods according to varying needs.This has made Treasure Hill a village that records the fragmented imprints of time, accidentally resulting in a naturally layered and staggered spatial layout. It has attracted many directors to film here, highlighting the site’s distinctive quality where every corner can serve as a movie set.As early as 1989, director Tsai Yang-ming shot the film “Big Head” here, with lead actor Wan Zi-liang winning the Golden Horse Award for Best Actor that year. From then until 2011, a total of seven films and one TV series were filmed here. The art village has selected seven films to screen at Treasure Hill International Artist Village, including titles such as Big Head, Paradise Drift, and Dough Starter.

Besides watching movies, visitors can also visit the actual filming locations, reenact lines, actions, and scenes from the films, immersing themselves in the emotions of the actors and experiencing the uniqueness of Treasure Hill as a film set. Stay overnight at the Treasure Hill Loft Youth Hostel to experience its unique blend of old and new architectural styles, and observe the area's development over the years. Starting October 4 through November 1, a “Memory Overlap – Treasure Hill Film Tunnel Book Workshop” will be held every Saturday at 2:30 pm, allowing participants to explore how memories can be recreated and turned into one-of-a-kind handmade books.
