“Pink Dot” is an art playground that has landed in the city. This playful venue boasts a quirky name made up of three special characters. “Pink” is a slang term meaning “very,” “extremely,” or “super.” “Le” (乐) is pronounced like the Chinese word for “happy,” and “Ding” (町) is a Japanese kanji character pronounced the same as “ting” (挺), carrying subtle connotations of cross-cultural exchange, meaning a place or corner. In summary, “Pink Dot” (Very Fun Park) refers to a very happy place.

◎ Pink Dot Has ‘Nine’ – A Joyful Art Summer

This summer, Pink Dot strides into its ninth exhibition. Along the way, it’s experienced the taste of nine different fruits, but looking back now, they all seem sweet. Though peeling away the tough skin and digging deep into the soil was required before savoring them, what’s most moving is precisely how hard-earned they are, making them all the more precious. Fortunately, the accumulated efforts translate into one touching expression after another. The spirit of Pink Dot is warmth and joy, bringing beauty and hope to life, and sharing inspiration through selfless artistic creation.

Pink Dot sets up its creative table each year on alleyway corners, welcoming artists from around the world. Through collisions, exchanges, and shared glances, it cooks up art with human touch. Along the way, it shares various flavors of creativity, mixed with summer heat and rain, seasoned with the awe and laughter of strolling visitors—all thanks to the support and trust of the public and businesses. It brings both familiar faces and new friends together to enrich our collective memories.

 

This year, artists from around the globe will interpret various spatial forms through their creations. Over 30 artworks will welcome everyone in a wall-free format, with 60 enthusiastic volunteers on hand to guide and serve. Pink Dot opens its arms wide, hoping that in every hug and greeting, a rosy hue of joy will be shared.
